The below groups are currently open, and we are opening more groups as we are able. All groups are now onsite unless otherwise indicated in the description. Virtual group counseling sessions meet via Microsoft Teams. Please call 614.224.4506 option 1 to schedule.
Group counseling is offered daily addressing various topics on different days. A few of the topics include Healthy Relationships, Co-Dependency, Mindfulness, Stress Management, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention and Art Therapy.
Increasing reflective functioning, emotional regulation and interpersonal conflict management skills are themes addressed directly or indirectly in all groups. These themes have been identified extensively by research to be areas of deficit for individuals engaging in problematic behaviors related to self and others.
Healthy Recovery* – Allows patients to share their journey on improving their quality of life. Focuses on SAMHSA’s four major dimensions that support a life in recovery: Health, Home, Purpose, & Community. This is a closed group for CompDrug patients that meets every Wednesday 10am-11am. Hepatitis Support – Offers education and emotional support to patients affected by hepatitis. Topics of discussion will include treatment options, diet and nutrition for a healthier liver, as well as referrals to treatment. This is not a medical group to give advice or treatment for hepatitis but rather a clinical group to share information from reputable resources, as well as a supportive environment for patients to express fears, challenges, and success stories regarding hepatitis. This is an open group for CompDrug patients that meets every Wednesday 8am-9am.
Ready for Baby – An evidence-based program geared towards soon-to-be and new parents. This is designed to be an interactive class where patients engage in different childbirth positions and breathing exercises, see different models that will display the baby during childbirth/dilation, and engage with baby dolls to practice newborn care. This is an open group for CompDrug patients that meets every Tuesday 10am-11am.
Orientation – The goal of the Orientation group is to introduce a client to the CompDrug clinic. As a new client or returning client, attending this group will help you to be successful in your recovery. The group format has slides and discussion to answer participants’ questions. Group is not currently meeting.
SMART Recovery – Self-Management And Recovery Training is a community support group open to anyone struggling with an addiction. At meetings, participants help one another resolve problems with any addiction (to drugs or alcohol or to activities such as gambling or over-eating). Participants find and develop the power within themselves to change and lead fulfilling and balanced lives guided by our science-based and sensible 4-Point Program®. This is an open group for CompDrug patients that meets onsite every Tuesday 430pm – 530pm.
Stress Management – Focuses on understanding how stress effects the body and recovery. Clients will learn how to identify individual stressors, how to change behaviors that continue the stress cycle and how to utilize relaxation techniques to feel calm lower cortisol level, blood pressure and reduced anxiety after making regular lifestyle changes. This is an open group for CompDrug patients that meets every Wednesday 9am-10am.
